Right of Passage

An important right of passage for a Samoyed puppy in Michigan is the 8 week evaluation. Litters of puppies are loaded up into a van at just 8 weeks old and taken to their evaluation. Michigan breeders congregate to look them over and give their best estimation of the future show potential. Puppies are gaited "down and back" many times, people they have never met go over their pro sternum, shoulders, legs, backs, tails, bite, ears, stop, eyes, expression etc. There is much discussion. This rear...or that front..and in the end 150 years of experience weigh in on their thoughts for the future as we all all try to guess what these little wiggling balls of fur will look like in two years. Boston's babies were privileged to have an AKC judge, a Dalmatian breeder and structure expert, two other long time Samoyed breeders and several additional friends play with them and look them over for an hour and a half. In the end there was 100% agreement which is nice to have. Here Carol Miller and Emma admire Red girl as we packed up to leave.
