Growing Fast

The puppies are growing fast and are up trying to walk. Sunday they all weighed just about 3 lbs. which is up from 1 pound two weeks ago! We had visitors over the weekend who enjoyed holding the babies. Since Treasure knows and trusts them she was very happy to share and didn't mind one bit when they passed puppies around. Eric was the one who found a dime and then a penny to compare to the puppies foot. Great thinking Eric!

Treasure's Babies

Treasure and Answer are the proud parents of four boys and one girl born early this morning. Mother and pups are doing well. The boys all weighed over 1 lb and the girl was 15.4 oz.

Getting Close

Treasure is in stage one of labor. This early stage is one of restlessness, panting and some brief rest periods. She has refused food all day. Pups should begin to arrive in the middle of the night or early tomorrow. She is staying mainly in her box, but only because it is the only option being offered. She would prefer to go outside and dig a hole to have the puppies in. It is going to be a long night.

Puppy's Daddy

Here is the proud daddy of Treasure's future family, posing for the camera in Colorado. He is CH T-Snow Stars All The Above who is also known as Answer. Treasure visited him in February and they are awaiting the stork who plans to arrive this weekend.

The Beach

We are blessed to live so close to the beach. Treasure enjoyed one last walk as a pregnant gal today and stopped to feel the wind in her hair. In a week she will be on full time maternity duty so it was nice to enjoy the wind, sand and fresh air.

Treasure Pupdate

Treasure and I went down to the Grand Haven boardwalk at sunset today and walked for forty minutes. Even though her girth is expanding, she sure can move through the crowd. Treasure looks like she is carrying a beach ball. Makes sense; as of a couple of days ago she had gained 12 lbs! This weekend we will set up the whelping box so it is ready for her next week. It is going to be in my office next to the computer so we can hang out together. On Monday she goes in for an x-ray to see how many little ones are in there, and then the web cam will go up at the end of the week. Stay tuned!
